The Center for Information Biology and DNA Data Bank of Japan, (The Center for Information Biology was renamed in 2001 which began operations in April 1995) is a division of the National Institute of Genetics (NIG), Mishima, Japan. CIB consists of four research laboratories, Laboratory for DNA Data Analysis, Laboratory for Gene Function Research, Laboratory for Gene-Product Informatics, and Laboratory for Research and Development of Biological Databases. CIB also operates the DNA Data Bank of Japan (DDBJ), a member of the International Nucleotide Sequence Database, DDBJ/EMBL/GenBank.
GIB as a part of the comparative genome project at DDBJ provides interative maps for a variaty of organisms. GIB is the abbreviation of Genome Information Broker. Link goes directly to the E.coli chromosome.
